Noodle - part 2

L'interfaccia è proprio questa. Qualcosa di "marziano" al primo approccio. Ma incredibilmente essenziale e funzionale. Immaginate che il cerchio sia il palco in cui il brano verrà eseguito sotto la vostra direzione. Ogni icona che vedete a destra o a sinistra rappresenta un musicista che potete utilizzare. Ogni musicista può suonare diverse partiture o meglio una serie di loop che sarete voi ad assegnare. Pronti a partire? Ok, per far suonare l'icona/musicista è sufficiente posizionarlo nel palco ( il volume del suo strumento aumenta con l'avvicinarsi al centro) e, tramite il tasto destro del mouse, "azionare" la partitura desiderata. A questo punto avrete una chitarra, o una tastiera, o una voce che ripetono un "loop" di 4, 8, 12 o 16 misure. Ottimo, ora comincia il "gioco" vero e proprio.... ovvero avvicinare altre icone, assegnare altri loops e scoprire quello che succede a video e soprattutto ascoltare. In ogni momento possiamo togliere o aggiungere icone, cambiarne il loop e, letteralmente, dirigere la canzone a nostro piacimento. Il brano acquistato non è più "statico" in questo modo, ma mobile, plasmabile ai nostri desideri. Le pillole gialle salvano le configurazioni preferite. In questo modo possiamo lavorare ad uno stadio "avanzato", elaborando le "cellule musicali" che l'autore ha creato ed editare la sua canzone come meglio crediamo. Cinque minuti, una mezzora, o anche una manciata di secondi.
Non siamo più ascoltatori passivi e il dialogo con l'autore diventa più interessante. Noi possiamo godere della sua opera ed il musicista sarà sicuramente curioso di scoprire come questa viene utilizzata. Provate a scaricare il video di "burn you up burn you down" ( di Peter Gabriel, uno dei primi musicisti a credere in Noodle).

This is the interface. At the first sight it seems like something "out of this world". But it's amazingly essential and functional. Let's imagine that the circle is the stage in which you can play the track as you like. Each icon on the right and/or on the left represents a musician you can use to play. Each musician can play different scores or better a sequence of loops you have assigned. Ready to start? Ok, first you must position the icon/musician on the stage to make him play (you can put up the volume of the instruments by reaching the centre of the stage). If you click on the mouse on the right, you can select the scores. Now you can play a guitar, or a piano, and a voice repeating a "loop" of 4, 8, 12 or 16 beats. Well done! Now you can put nearer other icons, or assign other loops or find what happened on the video, but above all you can listen. Every time you want, you can add or remove the icons, change the loop and play the song as you like. In this way the track that you have bought is no more fixed but malleable, according to your preferences. The yellow capsules save the definite configurations. In this way you can reach a further step by working out the "musical cells" created by the author and editing his song as you like. It takes five minutes, maybe half an hour or even few seconds!
The most important thing is that you can interact with the author. That's fascinating! You can enjoy his song and I'm sure he will be curious about how you play with his music.
